Senior Thesis Collection:
FUSE/D is a womenswear collection that aims to empower independence and confidence within women to ultimately challenge traditional gender stereotypes. This collection challenges the boundaries between traditional masculine workwear and feminine fashion, asking: how can the durability and functionality of men’s workwear be reinterpreted to complement the elegance of womenswear; to create a merge between two differing subjects? Traditionally men as positioned as most associated with workwear. Research into men’s workwear informed silhouettes and construction details such as flat felled seams, rivets, and double knee details, all reimagined into an empowering contemporary womenswear collection. Fabrication balances strength and femininity through twills, canvas, lightweight knits and vintage feed sacks. The feed sacks in this collection are sustainably sourced, referencing women’s historical practices of repurposing and labor.
